If you haven’t seen it yet, PLEASE take a look. I decided to take a little inspiration from Cindy Sherman. Much of my artwork in the past was staged, artificial, story-like, and fashion oriented. This lookbook is all of these things.
I decided to create little scenarios centered around the life of a woman named “Selah D’or.” When I came up with the name for the line, “cellar door” was broken down and reworked to resemble a woman’s name. It made perfect sense to breathe some life into this persona.
Each scenario was intended to be humorous, over-the-top, slightly voyeuristic, and pretty (obviously). Many of the storylines are old ideas that I’ve been meaning to shoot for years now. For example, the goodbye to the sailor/boyfriend. The first image for that scene was appropriated from a film still featuring Vivien Leigh.
We shot for 2 days. It was hard work, but so much fun! It’s so great when you’re working with people who all care about and understand your ideas. It’s also awesome when everyone involved is SERIOUSLY excited with the results while they are happening.
Please take a look. You won’t be disappointed. here’s the link again: http://www.selahdor.com/lookbook.html.
